The treatment area is where most of the work of the hospital takes place. The central pillar holds oxygen and nitrous oxide lines, as well as the electrics. Behind the pillar (just visible, above the black stool) is a wet table, where watery procedures like dental cleanings are done. You can see the new dental unit under the picture on the back wall. All of the necessary supplies are hidden away in the cabinets under the counter.

In the center of the picture to the left of the pillar and underneath the light is the door to the dog ward. The cat ward is separate, in the back corner with a full wall window. We like to separate the cats and dogs in the hospital to minimize stress.

The back of the treatment area holds the wet table (dental table), the dental machine, and the scrub sink for surgery. There is also a pack preparation area where the surgical instruments are cleaned, packed, and sterilized in an autoclave.

Our dental machine is brand new and is quite the instrument. Is has a high-speed handpiece (that can be used for cutting bone or teeth), a piezoelectric scaler with multiple attachments for blasting tartar off teeth, and compressed air and water for rinsing and drying tooth surfaces. We have been very happy with this unit and the quality of cleaning it provides our patients.
